Dr. Edwin Elam, PhD, visited our team meeting in Greensboro, NC. It was a packed house of 400+ people on a Monday night. His basic message was “business has gone from the brick & mortar to the click & order!”
Dr. Elam is known as “the Bishop of Sales and Marketing”, he has coordinated past activities at the Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce for small and minority businesses at the Memphis SMSA as the Information Clearinghouse Coordinator and Solution provider. He linked-up to resolve mutual issues, and fulfill directives as called for in an Initiative launched by then (R)-Tennessee Governor: Lamar Alexander.
Elam also coordinated Town-Hall Meetings for then U. S. Senator Jim Sasser (D-Tenn.) and then U. S. Senator David Pryor (D-Ark.); who helped 1,000′s of businesses through the Chamber’s Center; he also helped many of the Initiatives brought to the State of Tennessee by then U. S. Congressman Harold E. Ford, Sr.
Every niche of the Memphis Business, Educational and Non-Profit Communities and many Other sectors were addressed including Memphis In May, Inc., The Abe Scharff YMCA where Elam served as Board Chariman, under then Mayor – The Honorable Richard “Dick” Hackett. Elam left Memphis in 1986 to test his skill-set around the world.
Part of the training at the Greensboro, NC meeting included this 10 minute overview of the current state and future of American Business. Elam believes that many of America’s economic, family and income ills will be resolved when Network/Relationship Marketing is embraced as way out of the mess our economy is in, “….it’s simple control retail sales in your neighborhood and you win! Says, Elam.
I apologize for the poor video quality as we had to sit in overflow seating. While the lighting and the camera angles were not optimal, the passionate words of Dr. Elam were certainly dead on given the current state of our economy.
